Black History Month in Jacksonville

A heart colored Red Yellow and Green and it says "Black History Month"

February is Black History Month and we have a couple opportunities where you can celebrate locally.

The Jacksonville’s Children’s Chorus presents the 14th Annual “Lift Ev’ry Voice & Sing” concert, celebrating Black History Month and the legacy of Dr. Martin Luther King Jr.

The piece they’ll sing was written in Jacksonville by James Weldon Johnson. It was first preformed by a choir of Jacksonville children on February 12th, 1900, in honor of Abraham Lincoln’s Birthday.

This years performance will be Saturday, February 25th at 2:00 at Hendricks Avenue Baptist Church.
